Service Description

Thursdays, 6:30-8PM Jan 22 - March 12 (8 sessions) Lead Instructor: Young (RAW Artistic Director) Beta taiko drumming involves playing the drum flat and upright, with the head of the drum parallel to the ground. This is a great style for people who are brand new to taiko, or still finding their footing as a beginner taiko player. In this course, participants will learn the fundamentals of beta style taiko, including stance, form, grip, and strike. Introductory level taiko exercises to begin building a solid foundation of rhythm and musicality will be introduced, and participants will learn to play an intro-level song. No prior taiko experience necessary. Sliding scale $275-$350 + HST
