Service Description

Yatai Bayashi originated as a traditional festival piece in Chichibu, Japan. It was then adapted for the stage by Eitetsu Hayashi of Ondekoza in 1972. Now, it is often recognizable as the song where drummers play leaning back in a sit-up position. For RAW Taiko, it brings out all the rage and all the sweat in the best ways possible. Check out this clip of Yatai Bayashi by RAW Taiko, performed at Toronto Taiko Festival 2022. (0:00 - 1:45) Prior taiko experience is strongly recommended. This class is limited to 8 participants. Class participants will have the option to perform a section of Yatai Bayashi at a community gathering on July 5th. Cost: Sliding scale $200-300 + HST Bachi (drumsticks) will be provided.
