QTBIPOC Taiko: Bi-Weekly Drop-In
Reccuring Tuesday evening taiko drop-in for QTBIPOC community members
Service Description
*As of November 2024, the occurrence of this program will reduce to bi-weekly (taking place once every two weeks)* If you are Queer and/or Trans, and a Black, Indigenous or People of Color community member, come join us for some gentle body movement, learning of taiko rhythms, and to find joy in playing together! Beta and Odaiko styles will be available. Please note, this is not a cumulative program i.e. the type and level of exercises will remain consistent for the duration of the program, so that beginners can join at any time. No taiko experience necessary. Variations will be provided for participants at different levels. This drop in is limited to 16 participants (ages 18+). Registration opens 7 days prior (on Tuesday at 6:30pm for the following Tuesday). Program is open exclusively to participants who identify as Queer/Trans *and* Black, Indigenous, or People of Colour. Cost: Pay-what-you-want (cash or card at the door) Bachi (drumsticks) will be provided. This program is supported by the Community Action Grant program offered by the MLSE Foundation.
