Service Description

Korekara, composed in 2005 by Michelle Fujii and Walter Clarke, is an excited and joyful expression of gratitude for the work of taiko ancestors and all that is to come next! Played on Naname (slanted style), Korekara is a great piece for beginners to learn kumi-daiko (ensemble drumming). It was taught to RAW Taiko by Michelle Fujii in 2023, and as an open-source piece, we are thrilled we get to offer it to more and more community members. Check out videos of Korekara performed by groups around the world. All levels, beginners welcome. The first session of this course will cover the foundations of Naname playing. This class is limited to 12 participants. Class participants will have the option to perform Korekara at a community gathering on July 5th. Cost: Sliding scale $240-360 + HST Bachi (drumsticks) will be provided.
